August 02, 2015 KOTA: Three kota doriya weavers have been nominated by the textile ministry for national award as master weavers to be awarded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai on August 7 on national handloom day at Sant Kabir national award function.

Nasiruddin Ansari, ex-chairman municipal corporation of Khetun, Mustkin Bhai and Hazi Abdul Hakim Kachra have been nominated for this award. The award has been given for three consecutive years for 2012 to Nasiruddin Ansari, for 2013 to Hazi Abdul Hakim Kachra and for 2014 to Mustkin Bhai. All these three wearers belong to Kota's Khetun village. They have been chosen for their excellence in weaving.

All the three weavers, under the award will be given Rs 1 lakh each, a tamrapatra citation and angavastram. Information about these weavers and their art will also be included in the brochures presented on that occasion.

They will be leaving for Jaipur on August 3 and thereafter to Chennai in order to receive the award. "I have myself designed the sari for which I am to receive the award," said Nasiruddin Ansari." My sari was approved by a jury in DeIhi for its uniqueness in design and technicality. This is the first time that I am gaining national recognition but even in the past I have been in limelight, when in 2006 I was sponsored by government of Rajasthan for a trip to Baku in Russia to showcase my skill. There, I had taken my loom to show how weaving is done, he said. Again in 2008, Rajasthan tourism department took me on a 7-day trip to Karachi and 7 days in Lahore to show my talent," said Ansari.

Nasiruddin Ansari has been corporater for nagarpalika Khetun four times. From 1994-99 he was chairman of Khetun nagarpalika. From 1995-2000 he has been director State Handloom Development Corporation, Jaipur.
