June 20, 2024 Coimbatore, Jun 19 (KNN) The Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA) is gearing up to host the 14th edition of Texfair, a prominent textile machinery trade fair, from June 21 to 24 in Coimbatore.
The event is expected to draw substantial participation from both domestic and international exhibitors.
In a press conference held on Tuesday, S.K. Sundararaman, Chairman, SIMA and S. Krishnakumar, Vice-Chairman, SIMA, announced that the upcoming Texfair would feature 240 exhibitors showcasing a wide array of textile machinery, spares, accessories, and cutting-edge technologies.
The exhibitors will occupy 260 stalls, providing attendees with a comprehensive glimpse into the latest advancements in the textile industry.
The organisers anticipate that the trade fair will generate substantial business opportunities for exhibitors, with projected sales exceeding Rs 1,500 crore.
Given the textile mills' annual expenditure of 2.5 to 3 per cent of their turnover on spares, accessories, and modernisation initiatives, Texfair aims to bridge the gap between mills and suppliers, facilitating cost-effective sourcing and operational efficiency.
Sundararaman emphasised the cyclical nature of the textile industry, particularly the spinning sector, which has experienced a downturn in the past 16-18 months.
However, he expressed confidence in the industry's revival, highlighting the necessity for textile units to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs through strategic investments and partnerships.
In addition to the larger textile mills, Texfair 2024 is poised to benefit the small-scale textile industry, which is equally focused on cost reduction and business sustainability.
Approximately 30 to 40 per cent of the exhibitors are expected to be from the MSME sector, underscoring the event's inclusive nature.
Recognising the opportunities within the textile and clothing industry in the Coimbatore region, Sundararaman and Krishnakumar stressed the importance of value addition, new product development, and branding as key focus areas for future growth and competitiveness.
Texfair 2024 promises to be a comprehensive platform for industry stakeholders to explore the latest innovations, forge business partnerships, and spearhead the textile sector's sustainable growth and development.
