July 12, 2015 Weave Tex Tech 2015, the second edition of International Textiles, Weaving Machinery and Accessories Expo commenced at Texvalley on Friday, creating an interface between buyers and sellers aimed at invigorating economy through expansion of product base.
The three-day expo presented by Hi-Tech International Trade Fair India Pvt., Ltd., features latest powerloom, dyeing, sizing and warping machineries and boilers and parts, besides printing, embroidery and several other kinds of machineries, with support provided by Texvalley, SSM College of Engineering Komarapalayam, and PDEXCIL (Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council).
Textile sector in Tamil Nadu accounting for over five lakh out of 22 lakh looms in the country requires better support from the Central Government, Pdexcil Chairman M. Duraisamy said after the inaugural session. There was concern in the industry over the Centre scaling down TUF (Textile Upgradation Fund) expenditure to Rs. 1,500 crore from Rs. 1,800 crore last year, against the requirement of Rs. 5,000 crore, Mr. Duraisamy said.
The foreign trade policy also does not augur well with the textile sectors growth; incentives for export must be restored to enable Indian textile industry to withstand and overcome stiff competition from China, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Vietnam, he said.
Policy support
M.S. Mathivanan, Chairman, S.S.M. College of Engineering; Sivanesan, president, Federation of All Traders and Industries Association; C.
