August 18, 2015 The Karnataka state government is planning to set up a hi-tech textile training centre in Yadgir district, which has been identified as one of the backward districts of the state by the Nanjundappa Committee.
The proposed training centre would be set up on five acres of land in Bandalli village with an investment of about Rs 10 crore, the state textiles minister Baburao Chincansur has said, according to media reports.
The hi-tech centre would train eligible candidates for jobs in the textile parks that are likely to soon come up at Badiyal and Kadechur industrial hubs.
The state government is already in the process of establishing an 1,000-acre textile park in Yadgir district. The park is expected to improve condition of cotton farmers and weavers, and also create employment for a large number of people.
In addition, the government is also planning to develop smaller textile parks at different places in Ballari, Chamarajanagar and Vijayapura districts. (RKS)
