Students display talent in Vastra Vista

April 15, 2016 The department of textile engineering, Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, organised a technical festival Vastra Vista on its campus recently, which was inaugurated by Prof SK Sinha, head of textile technology, NIT, Jalandhar.
Dr Devanand Uttam, head of textile engineering department, GZSCCET, welcomed the guests and students and highlighted the achievements of the department related to academic, technical, cultural and sports areas.
He lauded the large number of placements of students in various companies and clearing of GATE examination by many students.
Dr Sinha delivered a lecture on structural properties of yarns made by various spinning systems. In the technical session that followed, various events such as power-point presentation, model-making competition, tie-and-dye and technical quiz were held.
Prem Chand and Lucky Goyal bagged the first position in PPT presentation, Raushan Rahi and Harpal Singh got the first position in model-making, in tie-and-dye event, Satinderjeet and Gurveer Singh were awarded the first prize while Prem Chand won the technical quiz.
In the evening, a farewell party, Sama-e-Tafreeh was organised for the final year students to convey them best wishes.
Abhay Rastogi, GM (production), Sportsking Ltd, Jeeda, was the chief guest who appreciated the development of the institute under the guidance of the campus director and also assured to provide adequate supports to the students in industrial visit, training and placements.
