February 03, 2024 Surat: The textile industry leaders in the city said that they had been waiting for the announcement of a new textile policy since the term of the old policy ended in December 2023. “There is a need for a new textile policy and we are hopeful that it will be announced soon. The funds announced might get diverted for the dues of previous policy,” said Bharat Gandhi of Federation of Indian Art Silk Weaving Industry (FIASWI).
Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) had made a representation for new textile policy. “We are hopeful that a new policy will be declared soon. The backlog of subsidies needs to be cleared,” said Ramesh Vaghasiya, president of SGCCI.tnn
